The World Turned Upside Down
    • If buttercups buzz'd after the bee
    • If boats were on land, churches on sea
    • If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows
    • And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse
    • If the mamas sold their babies
    • To the Gypsies for half a crown
    • If summer were spring
    • And the other way 'round
    • Then all the world would be upside down!

Siege at Yorktown:
George Washington wondered whether his elaborate plan fooled Clinton.
He also wondered whether the French fleet would reach Yorktown in time. On September 5th to his relief Washington recieved news that Admiral De Grasse's ships were nearing Yorktown. Washington's plan work the British couldn't be more confused.By the end of September 14,000 American and French troops had captured Cornwallis's 7,500 British and Hessian troops in Yorktown. De Grasses kept Cornwallis from escaping. So General Clinton and the rest of the British army waited in New york unable to help.

  • VICTORY AT YORK TOWN

The Revolutionary War was at its critical point. Both armies needed a victory to win the war. Washington made plans to attack the British at York Town Virginia instead of NYC. The patriots was hoping for help from the French. Finally the French sent ships of 5,000 soldiers, commanded by the French General, the Comete de Rochambeau. The French help arrived, until the British trapped the ships. So in 1780 Washington camped north of NYC for the 2nd ship, so he could keep an close eye on the British and their silly little tricks. The 2nd ship arrived, but Washington had to wait to put his plan in action, because of the ship didn't set sail for America until summer 1781.
  • WASHINGTON'S FAREWELL

The war had ended, Washington resigned 3 weeks later at the meeting of the 2nd Continental Congress in Annapolis, Maryland. Everyone was sad, mostly in tears. He returned to his home in Mount Vernon, just in time for Christmas. He lived happy and quitly with his family.
